I’m not sure how much money our class collected this week for the fire victims, but I know I couldn’t pick up the bucket by myself. Thanks everyone for contributing. There were several kids who donated their Friday’s pennies to the cause, which I thought was very admirable.
This week in our Word Work we will be focusing on initial sounds and will begin TPRI (Texas Primary Reading Inventory) testing. This is a state-mandated test to assess phonological awareness and reading. Take-home readers will continue to come home every night. Don’t forget to read and sign the reading log. In math this week we will begin addition with manipulatives and problem solving. Spelling will continue with our new spelling words that were sent home this past Friday. The test will be close to the end of the week. We will also begin our Science Unit on the 5 senses.
Continue to encourage good CHAMPION behavior. We are really working hard at remembering and applying these behaviors so that our listening and work habits support our academics.
