This was the first week of the second six weeks. Our week was filled with guided reading groups and SUBTRACTION! Guided reading groups are flowing as expected. Subtraction is a little bit different. This always is a very hard concept for the students. I ask that you make sure that you go over their graded papers and always make sure their homework is done and checked over. Using counters is a must right now. At home, they can use anything from toothpicks to dried beans. Mixing addition and subtraction helps them remember to look at the sign. These are some helpful hints to help you help them. In writing this week, we will writing our own class story and illustrating it to publish. In our work work this week we will be using and applying digraphs (/sh/ /th/ /ch/ /wh/ /ph/).
Although the students will be out on Monday; we, the teachers, will be having in-service. Hope you all enjoy your long weekend.
Date to remember: Oct 25 is an early release day at 11:00. The afternoon will be reserved for parent conferences.
